I dont normally agree with naming and shaming but I cant avoid it. Some may find theim to be ok, some even great, but me, personally, i think they suck.
Im writing this whilst connected using a 56k modem i had to scavenge out of my old system, as my broadband service has been suspended. Going back a few months, Tiscali ballsed up my direct debit, and never took the funds for the first month. No problem, their customer assistant assured me, we'll take two lots next time.
Next month, nothing taken. No problem I was (again assured) we'll carry it across. Slightly grudgingly I argeed.
Next month... well, you get the picture.
I called them a while back as my service had become suspended. I was informed that because the first payment was not taken by direct debit, and despite that being theior fault, that my DD was suspended, and that until the money owed on my account was cleared by debit or credit card, no money would be taken by DD at all! "I dont know why you were told that in the first place sir" i was told.
Anyway, after many many phone calls (in one, the guy on the other end got so pissed off he repeated the words "i can sit here and quote rules and regulations to you all day mate" over and over again. Mate?!?! Since when did he become my mate?!?!?!?!) im left with the choice of either;
1, Pay them the money owed, (about £75) at which point my service will be restored.
2, Pay them the full term of my contract (12 months) so that I can have my MAC code and move to another provider, or
3, Wait three months for the line to be released due to non activity and face the wrath of the bailiffs.
Am I wrong to feel a bit peeved about this? Tiscali provide an excellent service in my area, however it strikes me that like so many other companies they put so much faith in their service, they figure no one needs to call their "help" center, and therefore dont need to invest funds in training their staff.
Gahh! I have to try playing on dialup. Maybe the humour of the moment will temporarily ease my pain.
