Today i was going on photo safari with a friend to an old coal-pit !
There i was just making series of 12 pictures with different exposure times but the very same motive.
After merging this 12 pictures in a special program, i got my first high dynamic range photo.
U can not see the high contrast on ur computer. It has a contrast of 200000:1 !
This is only a downsampled version to show u this.
But i think it looks very nice and u can imagine how awesome it will look on a print.

This is just for comparing the same motive as a normal unprocessed photo with same camera settings as above.

I have another 3 or 4 series which i may process first but i will post them here as soon as they are finished (processing takes about 2 hours on a macbook pro g4 1,8 with 1,5 gig ram). Filesizes are about 80mb after processing.

Enjoy !

Whatever, I finally had some beers, don't you diss me!
Different exposure times didn't make silly images because of wind/clouds moving?

the program can handle moving leafs/clouds a bit. Otherwise clouds could be retouched by photoshop, leafs are a bigger problem.
here u see the problem of moving leafs compared to the normal image:

I thought you could get hdr processing on cameras now. Someone I know has the best camera I've ever seen. The pictures look better than real life. The detail is amazing.

But u still have to have the money for such a camera...

Yeah, did I mention she's a professional photographer? Yeah, hdr processing is fairly expensive, the cheapest one I've seen was about €800.

but as far as i know do this cameras only do the exposure time stepping on their own, so u don`t have to touch them which could cause unstabilities on pictures. the merging and tonemapping has still to be done on a computer.
