Yo guys,

I was wondering:
Are you guys gonna buy UT3 and leave {V][M}
Are you guys NOT gonna buy UT3 and stay here
Are you guys gonna buy UT3 and continue THERE with {V][M}
Or what?

Because I don't know it yet.
My computer can hardly handle UT2004, so I have to buy a new PC and stuff to make UT3 work etc.

Just wondering.

JigsaW

PS: You're reply/opinion is very welcom:p

Well, I've preordered UT3 and isn't {V][M} gonna become a UT 3 clan and UT 2004?

JigsaW

And how you wanna do that ^^

Me thinks it will be a UT2004 and UT3 clan until every existing member gets a copy of UT3 then hold a vote wether to get rid of UT2004....
But i dont think my comp will ba ble to run it either :<

Yeah, plus the movement sucks in comparison to ut2004 :)

Then again... I think they are planning to take out the dodging in ut3 :((

All I can say is... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Beamer

don't know about jumping, but for dodging I've heard you can't doubledodge. But the game pace will be remarkably faster than ut2k4

Wormz

U cant Double Dodge but u can still dodge, dunno about double jump, and i think they are taking out wall dodges but im not sure...

Well... With all our servers why don't we make a mod to add dodging back into UT3 xD And then we can put it on all our 101 servers and spread dodging back to the world!!! Plus I think the reason they took out dodging is cause most of the people who buy the game are casual gamers who are too noobish to ever be capable of learning how to dodge xD So maybe that way we can scare all the noobs off our servers too if we put on a mod like that xD

Beamer
04-05-2007, 02:22 PM
^^ agreed, who can write a mod?

RBlood
04-06-2007, 08:38 PM
Well... I started hacking around with mods once... Hypothetically speaking I have the programming experience to learn to do it, but I haven't really tried doing much mod writing for UT :p So who knowz? :p

Maybe if ut2007 gets released this summer then I can try... otherwise I won't have the time after the summer :( unless I fail my degree of course... (which isn't all that unlikely (fucking maths department))

Jump, double jump, dodge, double dodge, and wall dodge are in. Only dodge jump is out. Besides that, gravity and ground speed is both increased. Since you don't know at all how that'll play, I suggest you try the game before you start modding it. :p

Rblood: it's UT3, go wash your mouth. :p

= lag more noticable? And what's the betting that UT3 will kill the CPU so much that it'll be a few years until computer hardware gets powerful enough for servers to actually be capable of running the damn thing smoothly? As is with ut2004...

Rblood: it's UT3, go wash your mouth.

It was UT2007, so I'm used to calling it that :)

I like UT2007 more then UT3 , coz it's UT99, UT2004 so why not 2007 ^^

It's not UT99 actually, that was just made up after Epic started using UT2003 and UT2004.

= lag more noticable?

Eh..no.

I bet Epic has enough tricks up their sleeve to make it run well. :)

I bet Epic has enough tricks up their sleeve to make it run well. :smile:haha... epic aren't exactly famous for that ;) Compare UT2004 to Half Life 2 and u can see that Half Life 2's physics engine is a lot faster and a lot more stable (no weird bugs with objects getting stuck inside one another and stuff).

Nova
04-08-2007, 11:08 PM
Simple explanation for that: UT2004's engine with Karma Physics dates from 2002, HL2's Source Engine was released in 2004. Even though UT2004 was also released in 2004, it still used the same Karma Physics. Which is rather logical, because if they'd changed that, they might as well rewrite the whole engine.

Bottomline: your comparison is off. It's like me saying: compare UE3's physics to Source's.

RBlood
04-09-2007, 12:43 AM
Well... possibly... we'll see ;)

Interesting tho, never realised that neither the Half Life 2 guys nor the Unreal Tournament guys actually wrote their own physics code, they both used someone elses engine and modified it a bit :)

Nova

I think Epic wrote their own karma physics SDK. When searching on "karma physics" on google, I only get results with Unreal.

RBlood
04-09-2007, 12:43 PM
Hmm... I don't know, but if they did it certainly sucks :) Of course if I could write some physics code as good as epic's I'd still be happy lol..........

And for that matter in 2D... Don't get how they do it, I always have the collision detection problem of if stuff goes too fast and the FPS is too low then it goes through walls which is kinda bad............... :( But in UT2004 u can set the gamespeed to 10 or something and it still works fine lol
