Visually, Escape from New York and Gazzah Night are my favorites and Legolucha seems to be a crowd pleaser.

For my taste 90% of american maps are way too big but it's still nice to know that someone is putting some effort into vctf :)

Yeah this is why we still have too much spambo map on our servers...
I hope by time all of the spambo maps will be replaced with quality maps, and more.

Would be nice to see Escape from New York and Gazzah night on VM, they are great maps. I've played them on CTC.

Gazzah night looks very nice. Yet for me it would be more fun if it was not covered under a heap of normal pickups and powerups. You can find health packs at every corner plus 2x Amp, 4x Belt, 4x Keg, 2x Deemer, etc. Amp-campers can be a real pain on this map. It is possible to collect the amp+belt+keg+50shield in like 15 seconds and go on a rampage afterwards.
LegoLucha looks nice and is just a bit huge. EscapeFromNewYork looks nice and is just a bit spammy.

Hmm.. played both escape and lego on the server earlier today.
Opinions: EscapeFromNewYork has potential and can be quite fun to play, but the filesize, bad mesh collisions and bad frame rates let it down a bit. Perhaps take away the collisions on vegetation? and one more thing, maybe just personal preference but those barrels near the flag are probably the most annoying thing ive ever seen in a VCTF map....... apart from TDI-House ofc :>
Not too hot on the Lego one, way too large for my tastes. The main way to score seems to be mantarunning, but there isnt enough ways to defend against incoming mantas as by the time you get your avril out the manta is behind some obstacle. :p

I realize that some of the maps may not be your taste ( I hate the barrels on that map too but was asked to add them to make it harder, ?) but I wanted to offer them so that you guys could benefit from some new environments to run around in. That next map I mentioned may be more your cup of tea. I think Mr Bean named it VCTF-MB-Hydro. I'll try and post a link when it's available.

The lego one is pretty damn good I think. New york is better, but the lego one just seemed so much bigger then it looks in the pics. maybe just:

Ha ha, yeah it is kind of big but you would be surprised how quickly you can get from one side to the other, on foot, if you know the way. 4 to 5 seconds I believe.

Just ignore these idiots, most of them are used to be play too much of those small and total tacticless spambo maps, and it is time while they fit themselfs again for normal space, and various tactics again.
Last day i played that newyork map, witch is excellent, the barels are good there (idiots don't realized that it could be removed so so easily from their way, but yeah, using shock combo to the flag is impossible for noobs, and they need to use their brains, and fancy rockets a lot to remove those "gates"), if those barells are missing, then the map tactics will be reduced, witch i don't like.
But i'm affected too with that negativity that i got realy heavy FPS drop on that map even with an 8800GTS, witch is a huge shame to the game engine.
Try to increase the depth all of the walls or make them filled (sorry i don't know how the editor works, but i've a larger skill of 3D modelling and programming :) ), this will force the Z-buffer more to ignore non visible polygons and/or objects so the FPS will increase i hope.

Nah.. It don't work like that. No matter how deep the walls are, u need to tell the editor its not a see through wall separately with antiportals, or make an area a zone and tell the engine where the doors and windows are.
Hmm.. now u got me curious.. I'm gonna open it up on the ED, but im sure the portals are already there^ No one with that map making skill would miss that out.

Ok so.
From the top bridge. Antiportal under ur feet so the stuff below that you cant see is not being processed all the time.

Mid level you don't see stuff directly above you but the basement is all coming up through the floor.

Down below u see pretty much the whole level is still being processed tho you would only see a room or two in your view.

The bottom level is Zoned off ofc, but it don't seem to occluding anything out side the zone.. Dunno. Maybe it is and i just cant see it in the editor.. Ye prolly that's how it is.
People are always talking about collision zones too with optimisation, but its generally easier said than done. Collision zones tend to be motherfuckers and not work right.
The idea is to have a complex object made more simple by taking out the intricate collision calculations and just making it a vague area around the object and no one will ever notice.
There is simple blocking volumes around most of the cars on the street, but their own collision properties are still turned on.
This one in the pic doesn't but it shows what i mean anyway.
The police cars behind the fences have no collision set, so I guess this is already known, and its just because it wont work properly without the objects having their own collisions set in the playing area. Looks like the vehicles don't like these meshes so the blockers are for them.

I rather play the huge american maps than klinika for example. I like NY, only thing I would change is the sniper rifle in weapon lockers. Replace all with LG's ;)

Also what krav try to say it is pointless to separate the weapons to multiple lockers, it is much more logicful if you add all key weapons to the start point (bio, shock, flak, LG) while the tactics weapons (like mines, link, rockets) should be added to the centre or closer to the centre of the map.
Also i disvote sniper too, add to a some place in the map, independent from the lockers, so everyone will be happy, and if the WYSIWYG logic fully could be made, then it will be one of the best, and perfectly optimized vCTF maps in the history :) .

Thank you guys for your comments. I thought that I had optimized it a bit but I guess it could be a lot better. I'll give it another go around and see if I can get it a little better.

Explain me what is tactic with rockets.
When i saw the quality of some players, Shock and LG are more tactic. They should be added in the map. But , i know they don't like that.
